Ella McMahon (born 1994), better known by her stage name Ella Eyre, is a British singer and songwriter signed to Virgin EMI Records. She's known for her collaborations with Rudimental on their UK number one single "Waiting All Night" and Naughty Boy and Wiz Khalifa on his single "Think About It". Her debut EP, Deeper, was released on 15 December 2013. Her debut single, "If I Go" is set to be released on 13 July 2014.



Early life and education

McMahon was raised in West London. McMahon is of Afro-Jamaican, Maltese, and English descent. She trained as a competitive swimmer before she began singing professionally.

McMahon was educated at Millfield School and the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology. Discovered by her management through a vocal coach in 2011, McMahon juggled school with song writing. She signed her publishing to Warner/Chappell in July 2012 and a record deal with Virgin/EMI followed shortly after.

Music career

2013–present: Breakthrough and debut album

In December 2012, Ella Eyre featured on Bastille's cover and mash up of TLC'S "No Scrubs" and The XX's "Angels". Titled "No Angels", the song featured on the band's 2012 mixtape, Other People's Heartache, Pt. 2. In April 2013, she featured on Rudimental's single "Waiting All Night". The single was released on 14 April 2013 and peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart, making it her first number one single in the United Kingdom. In August 2013 she appeared alongside Wiz Khalifa on the track "Think About It" from Naughty Boy's 2013 album Hotel Cabana. The song was released as the fourth single from the album on 17 November 2013. Eyre also features on Tinie Tempah's album Demonstration on the track "Someday (Place in the Sun)" which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 87 although was never released as a single.

Ella sang and wrote on the Cash Cash song "Hideaway," which was released on October 29th, 2013 through Big Beat Records.

She was the runner up for the BRIT Critics' Choice Award, losing out to Sam Smith, and was also the runner up for the BBC Sound of 2014 award. On 9 January 2014, she premiered the album track "All About You".
