I grew up in Sacramento, with my mom and dad and little brother. My mom is a kidney transplant coordinator for the Northern California area and my dad owna a Volvo repair shop. My mom is very active in the community, spreading awareness of kidney donation. I was more artistic than athletic. I was really into photography, drawing and art. I would go wave boarding with my parents on the Sacramento River. I also loved skateboarding boys. I got respect from everybody for trxing it. When I moved to Huntington Beach (Calif.), right after high school. They have the U.S. Open Surfing Tournament down there and I fell in love. I already loved awimming in the ocean, so I thought I’ve try it. I’ve been surfing ever since. I wanted to try modeling and knew I wouldn’t get to do much of that in Sacramento. My family was very supportive in whatever I wanted to do. Los Angeles was still a lot closer to my family than if I moved to New York.
