Petra Gerster

Petra Gerster wurde am 25. Januar 1955 als Tochter eines Arztes in Worms geboren. Nach dem Abitur, das sie am humanistischen Rudi-Stephan-Gymnasium in Worms absolvierte, studierte sie unter anderem als Stipendiatin der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes Slawistik und Germanistik in Konstanz, den USA und Paris. Danach absolvierte sie ein Volontariat beim Kölner Stadtanzeiger.

Nach ersten beruflichen Fernseherfahrungen beim WDR und beim BR übernahm Petra Gerster 1989 die Moderation des Magazins ML Mona Lisa im ZDF. Diese Aufgabe nahm sie zehn Jahre lang wahr und erhielt dafür unter anderem 1996 den Hanns-Joachim-Friedrichs-Preis.

Seit dem 15. August 1998 ist sie im wöchentlichen Wechsel mit einem männlichen Kollegen als Nachrichtensprecherin bei der Nachrichtensendung heute tätig.
