Christina Aguilera-'I'd like to play a crackhead'
 

Christina Aguilera has revealed that she would like to return to acting and take on "crazy and meaty and juicy" roles.

The Voice coach, who made her screen debut alongside Cher in 2010's Burlesque, said that she is looking for parts that are "outside of music".

"I do want to do more acting," she told the audience at the Billboard and Hollywood Reporter 2012 Film & TV Music conference on Thursday (October 25).

Speaking about her previous role as aspiring singer Alli, Aguilera admitted that she hadn't planned to begin her acting career with a part in a musical.

"I sort of had this personal aspiration to do film, but I said, 'I never want to do a musical! It's too much like myself'," she said.

"[Now] I want to... really sink my teeth into something a little more challenging. Really outside of myself, outside of music.

"I want it to be honest and genuine in expanding my wings... something really, really different.

"A crackhead on the street or a drug addict. Or something crazy and meaty and juicy. Something that really [will take] me out of myself."

The 'Your Body' singer - who was famously branded " a bitch" by British group The Wanted - also admitted that she is aware of her reputation as a tough person to work with.

"It's hard being such a powerful woman in the business," she said.

"I'm known for not always being, kind of..." she began, before adding: "I learned early on you can't always be warm and fuzzy because you'll be bulldozed right over."

Despite her straightforward attitude, Aguilera recently revealed that she doesn't like Simon Cowell's critical approach to contestants on talent shows such as American Idol and The X Factor.

"I saw the commercials early on of American Idol of Simon being a d**k. I was like, 'Man, that's not what it's about'," she said.

"I didn't want to treat people like [Simon does]. I wanted to do The Voice to show that we can be positive. We don't have to knock people down."

Aguilera will take a hiatus from the next series of The Voice in order to focus on her new album Lotus, which is released on November 12 in the UK and November 13 in the US.

"In order to be great coaches, we have to create great music and be current artists," she said. "I needed a break to be out there doing what I love. It only makes me fresh for when I return."
