After graduating from St. George's High School she went on to study at Dawson College where she took part in the "Daily Planet" newspaper. After finishing college she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend Emerson College and obtained a BA in TV/Video production. Shira is the step sister of Dov Charney, founder and owner of American Apparel.

Lazar hosted segments for the Streamy Awards[1], 1st Look and Open House on NBC, as well as being a correspondent for a number of different series. She is also the co-host of the new web series "Truth Hurts." [2] and Mahalo Daily. She has also been a blogger for The Travel Channel and appeared on the Fox News Channel, CNN and MSNBC. She is a frequent guest on Fox News late-night political/satire show Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld.
