Ashley Graham
 

Ashley Graham (Ashley Ann Graham), geb. 1987, ist eine amerikanische Übergrößen-Modell aus Lincoln (Nebraska). Sie ist am besten bekannt als ein Dessous-Modell für die Plus Size Kleidung. Sie erschien auf dem Cover der Elle Quebec. Ashley Graham erschien in Modezeitschriften wie Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour und Latina. Darüber hinaus erschien sie in mehreren Levis Kampagnen. Sie hatte TV-Auftritte in diversen TV-Shows u.a. in der Tonightshow mit Jay Leno, Entertainment Tonight und CBS News.
Ashley Graham wuchs in Lincoln, Nebraska auf und hat zwei jüngere Schwestern. Sie besuchte die Scott Middle School 1999-2002 und machte an der Lincoln Southwest School 2005 ihr Abitur. Sie wurde im Jahr 2000 im Alter von 12 Jahren, beim Einkaufen, von der I & I-Agentur entdeckt.

Seit 2010 ist sie verheiratet.

Ashley Graham ist ein Übergrößen-Model, sie trägt Konfektionsgröße 44. Trotzdem schaffte sie es nun in die Bademoden-Ausgabe des Hochglanz-Magazins "Sports Illustrated". Ihre Wahl ist eine Revolution.
Ashley Graham musste in ihrer Karriere als Model schon viele beleidigende und verletzende Bemerkungen über sich ergehen lassen. "Du bist zu hässlich. Deine Arme sind zu dick. Deine Brüste zu groß." Auch über ihre nicht zu übersehende Cellulite an ihren Oberschenkeln mokierten sich nicht nur die Agenten, sondern auch die, die ihre Fotos sahen. Sie rieten beim Betrachten ihrer Bilder dringend zur Nachbehandlung, zu Photoshop, um aus der nicht ganz straffen Haut am Computer eine perfekte zu machen.
Das Schlimmste, was man der 27-jährigen Graham allerdings vorwarf und was lange an ihrem Selbstbewusstsein kratzte, war ein für ihren Berufswunsch eigentlich alles vernichtender Satz: "Du bist einfach zu fett für den Job." Und meist folgte dieser Abwertung noch ein "gut gemeinter Rat". Mach erst einmal eine Diät und komm dann wieder."
Doch daran dachte Ashley Graham überhaupt nicht. Die junge Frau aus Lincoln (US-Bundesstaat Nebraska) wollte so bleiben, wie sie ist: 1,75 Meter groß, 77 Kilogramm schwer mit Maßen von 107-76-117 und damit weit entfernt von den in der Modelwelt angestrebten Idealwerten 90-60-90. Legt man Grahams Körperzahlen dem normalen Body-Mass-Index der renommierten Mayo-Klinik zugrunde, liegt sie mit 25.1 im unteren Bereich der Kategorie Übergewicht.
