Moxie Raia
 

Moxie Raia is an American singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California.

Early life and education

Raia was born in New Jersey and took up dancing at the age of three. At the age of six, she traveled across the United States competing in dance competitions, forming her own band two years later and writing her own music. Raia left home at the age of 13 to live with her sister in New York City, pursuing her dream of working in the music industry During her time at high school for performing arts in New York, she took up piano and guitar as well as continued her songwriting and dancing. She went on to attend Columbia University where she studied music for a year and a half.

Career

Raia's first major gig was as the opening act for The Roots, prior to her attending Columbia University. Around the same time she began working with Freddy Wexler's The Brain, a cross-platform entertainment company. She left Columbia to move to Los Angeles where she began to collaborate on songwriting for artists such as Lil Wayne and Shakira. Raia began releasing singles produced by Walker, including the tracks Dirty Lights, Bad Decisions, and Beware. The end of 2013 saw the release of Raia's first single from her debut album. Titled Buffalo Bill, the song gained attention throughout the dance community, being remixed by artists such as Louis The Child and Tiësto. The song was a revival from her earlier work and also included a video release in early 2014. Moxie will release her first album in late 2014.
