Juliette Binoche
 

Juliette Binoche (* 9. März 1964 in Paris) ist eine französische, international bekannte Schauspielerin.

Der Vater Jean-Marie Binoche, ein Regisseur, Schauspieler und Bildhauer und ihre Mutter Monique Stalens, eine Schauspielerin und Lehrerin polnischer Herkunft, gaben das künstlerische Interesse an ihre Tochter Juliette weiter. Die Großeltern mütterlicherseits wurden in Auschwitz als Intellektuelle eingesperrt. Schon als Kind begann Juliette am Theater. 1985 hatte sie eine kleine Rolle bei Jean-Luc Godard. Schnell folgten weitere Rollen in Filmen verschiedenster Genres, die sie mit ihrer Persönlichkeit und Rolleninterpretation prägte. Neben mehreren europäischen Filmpreisen wurde sie im Jahr 1997 mit dem Oscar der besten Nebendarstellerin für ihre Rolle der Hana in Der englische Patient ausgezeichnet. 2000 wurde die Hobbymalerin Binoche für einen weiteren Oscar als beste weibliche Hauptrolle in Chocolat – Ein kleiner Biss genügt nominiert.

Juliette Binoche lebt in Paris und war von 1999 bis 2003 mit ihrem zehn Jahre jüngeren Schauspielkollegen Benoît Magimel liiert, den sie bei den Dreharbeiten zu Das Liebesdrama von Venedig kennenlernte. Sie haben eine gemeinsame Tochter. Aus einer früheren Beziehung hat Binoche einen Sohn.
