Sylvia Kristel (* 28. September 1952 in Utrecht; † 17. Oktober 2012[1] in Amsterdam) war eine niederländische Schauspielerin und ein Model.

Mit 17 Jahren begann sie ihre Karriere als Model, 1973 gewann sie den Wettbewerb Miss TV Europe.[2] International bekannt wurde sie 1974 durch die Hauptrolle im Erotikfilm Emmanuelle (nach dem gleichnamigen Roman von Emmanuelle Arsan). Seither ist ihr Name eng mit dem Film verbunden und das Filmplakat, auf dem Kristel mit kurzen Haaren und halbnackt in einem Rattansessel sitzt und mit einer Perlenkette spielt, avancierte zu einem Sinnbild der sexuellen Revolution. In den 1970er Jahren war der Erotikfilm des Regisseurs Just Jaeckin der erfolgreichste Film aus französischer Produktion. In späteren Filmen blieb sie ihrem Image treu und spielte neben Emmanuelle-Nachfolgefilmen auch die Titelrollen der erotischen Verfilmungen von Lady Chatterley’s Liebhaber (1981) und Mata Hari (1985). 1981 wirkte sie in den Vereinigten Staaten an der umstrittenen Sexkomödie Zärtlich fängt die Liebe an mit. 2004 inszenierte sie den Kurzfilm Topor et moi, der sich mit dem Beginn ihrer Karriere auseinandersetzt. Dies blieb ihre einzige Regiearbeit.

Sie trat in über 50 Filmen als Haupt- oder Nebendarstellerin auf.
