Angelique Kerber
Angelique Kerber (* 18. Januar 1988 in Bremen) ist eine deutsche Tennisspielerin, die auch die polnische Staatsbürgerschaft besitzt. Sie spielt seit 2003 auf der Profitour und wurde 2010 und 2011 mit dem TC Radolfzell Deutsche Mannschaftsmeisterin. In der Saison 2012 der Tennis-Bundesliga spielt sie für den Ratinger TC Grün-Weiß. Ihren Wohnsitz hat sie in Kiel.
Kerber, die seit ihrem dritten Lebensjahr Tennis spielt, nahm als Teenager auch an Schwimmturnieren teil. Nach ihrem Realschulabschluss entschied sie sich für eine Karriere als Tennisprofi. Ihre Managerin ist ihre deutsche Mutter Beata, trainiert wurde sie zunächst von ihrem polnischen Vater Sławek. 2012 spielte sie letztmals für Deutschland im Fed Cup (gegen Australien). Als ihr „zweites Zuhause“ bezeichnet sie Puszczykowo (dt.: Unterberg) an der Warthe. Wenn sie bei ihrer Verwandtschaft weilt, trainiert sie dort im Tennis-Center ihres Großvaters. Sie besitzt neben der deutschen auch die polnische Staatsbürgerschaft. Kerber zufolge gab es einmal eine Anfrage vom polnischen Verband, ob sie für Polen spielen wolle. Dass sie auf die Anfrage nicht einging, wurde von der polnischen Presse heftig kritisiert. Angelique Kerber hat noch eine Schwester, Jessica. Kerbers höchste Weltrangplatzierung war Platz sechs im August 2012. Bisher konnte sie zwei WTA-Turniere (Paris & Kopenhagen 2012) gewinnen.
