Lana Del Rey (* 21. Juni 1986[1] als Elizabeth „Lizzy“ Grant in Lake Placid) ist eine US-amerikanische Singer-Songwriterin.[2] Ihr Künstlername setzt sich aus dem Namen der Schauspielerin Lana Turner und Ford Del Rey zusammen.

Die Künstlerin startete ihre musikalische Karriere im Alter von 17 Jahren. Anfangs trat sie zunächst als Lizzy Grant, dann als Lana Del Rey a.k.a. Lizzy Grant mit der Gitarre bzw. kleinem Ensemble in kleineren Clubs in Brooklyn und in der Lower East Side auf. Sie steht – inzwischen ausschließlich als Lana Del Rey – bei der Plattenfirma Universal unter Vertrag. Ihre Produzenten sind Eg White, Guy Chambers sowie Robopop. Bei YouTube erreichte ihr Titel Video Games innerhalb eines Monats über eine Million Aufrufe.[3]

Ihren ersten Auftritt im deutschen Fernsehen hatte Lana Del Rey am 12. November 2011 in der ARD-Sendung Inas Nacht[4]. Ihr Debütalbum Born to Die erscheint am 20. Januar 2012.
