Halle Maria Berry [ˈhælɪ ˈbɛɹɪ] (* 14. August 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.

Halle Berry wurde von ihrer Mutter Judith nach Halle’s Department Store in Cleveland benannt. Die ehemalige „Miss Ohio“ begann ihre Karriere 1991 in der TV-Sitcom Living Dolls und bekam später eine Rolle in der Fernsehserie Unter der Sonne Kaliforniens. Ihr Filmdebut hatte sie in Jungle Fever mit Wesley Snipes.

Nachdem sie jahrelang Nebenrollen spielte, versucht sie sich nach dem Oscar-Gewinn im Jahr 2002 für Monster's Ball, auf Hauptrollen zu konzentrieren. Sowohl Gothika als auch Catwoman erwiesen sich allerdings als kommerzielle und künstlerische Flops. Für Catwoman wurde Berry 2005 mit der Goldenen Himbeere als schlechteste Schauspielerin „ausgezeichnet“, einem Anti-Preis, der traditionell am Abend vor der Oscar-Verleihung vergeben wird. Berry sorgte für Überraschung als sie, wie zuvor von ihr angekündigt, den „Preis“ tatsächlich persönlich entgegennahm: „Man muss eben auch mit Kritik leben.“ Damit ist sie eine der wenigen Personen, die Wert auch auf Entgegennahme dieses Preises legten.

Im Jahre 1989, nachdem Halle Berry während der Dreharbeiten zur TV-Serie Living Dolls ins Koma gefallen war, wurde bei ihr Diabetes mellitus Typ 1 diagnostiziert.

Halle Berry war von 1992 bis 1996 mit dem Baseballspieler David Justice und in zweiter Ehe von 2001 bis 2005 mit dem R&B-Sänger Eric Benet verheiratet.

Am 3. April 2007 wurde sie mit einem Stern auf dem Walk of Fame geehrt.
