Marina Lambrini Diamandis
Marina and the Diamonds ist der Künstlername der walisischen Sängerin Marina Lambrini Diamandis (* 10. Oktober 1985). Sie wurde im Vereinigten Königreich bekannt, nachdem sie bei der jährlichen Umfrage BBC Sound of 2010 als vielversprechendster Newcomer Platz 2 belegte[5]. Nachdem sie eine private EP herausbrachte, wurde 2009 unter Neon Gold Records die EP The Crown Jewels veröffentlicht. Danach unterschrieb sie einen Vertrag bei 679 Recordings und nahm ihr Debütalbum The Family Jewels auf, welches im Frühjahr 2010 veröffentlicht wurde.
Der Künstername "Marina and the Diamonds" beruht auf ihrem bürgerlichen Nachnamen, und obwohl sie als Solokünstlerin mit Background-Band arbeitet, wird aufgrund dessen der Name irrtümlicherweise als Bandname gesehen (ähnlich wie bei "Florence and the Machine)". In Wahrheit bezieht er sich auf Diamandis Fans. Sie beschreibt es selbst folgendermaßen: "I'm Marina.
