Madonna [m??d??n?] (* 16. August 1958 in Bay City, Michigan als Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone) ist eine US-amerikanische Sängerin, Schauspielerin, Tänzerin, Buchautorin und Designerin.
In ihrer bis jetzt 25-jährigen Karriere wurde Madonna mit Hits wie „Like a Virgin“ (1984), „Vogue“ (1990) und „Hung Up“ (2005) zu einer kontrovers und medienwirksam inszenierten Pop-Ikone. Vor allem durch ihre Musikvideos setzte sie auch Modetrends, die weltweit Beachtung finden. Außerdem ist sie mit 275 Millionen verkauften Tonträgern (175 Mio. Alben und 100 Mio. Singles) die absatzstärkste Sängerin die es je gab. Neben mehreren Grammys (u. a. 1998 für „Ray of Light“) erhielt sie auch den Golden Globe (1997 für ihre Darstellung in der Musicalverfilmung „Evita“). Außerdem schrieb sie auch einige Kinderbücher („Die englischen Rosen“, 2003) und ist mit einem geschätzten Vermögen von 325 Millionen US-Dollar eine der reichsten Frauen der Unterhaltungsindustrie.[1] |
