Hilary Ann Swank (* 30. Juli 1974 in Lincoln, Nebraska) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.

Sie begann ihre Karriere in Filmen wie Karate Kid IV - Die nächste Generation. Nach einer halben Staffel in der Jugendserie Beverly Hills, 90210 stieg sie zugunsten der Hauptrolle in dem Independentfilm Boys Don't Cry aus. Dieser Film wurde für sie zu ihrem ersten Karrierehöhepunkt und sorgte unter anderem für den Gewinn des Golden Globes, sowie des Oscars für die beste Hauptrolle. In jenem Film spielte sie Brandon Teena. Der Film basiert auf einer wahren Begebenheit und beschäftigt sich mit dem von Brandon Teena durchlebten Konflikt zwischen biologischem und erlebtem, gefühltem Geschlecht. Danach spielte Swank eine Reihe interessanter Nebenrollen in kleineren Filmen wie The Gift, Insomnia, aber auch in dem Hit The Core.

2004 folgte die Zusammenarbeit mit Hollywood-Legende Clint Eastwood in Million Dollar Baby. Für diesen Film konnte sie einen weiteren Golden Globe Award als beste Darstellerin und einen Oscar als Beste Hauptdarstellerin gewinnen.

Außerdem war sie für den Golden Globe für den TV- Film Iron Jawed Angels nominiert, den sie unter der Regie der Deutschen Katja von Garnier drehte. Einer ihrer nächsten Filme war 2006 Brian De Palmas The Black Dahlia nach dem Roman Die schwarze Dahlie von James Ellroy.

Im Januar 2006 gab Swank die Trennung von ihrem Mann Chad Lowe bekannt, mit dem sie acht Jahre verheiratet war. Das Paar lernte sich im Jahr 1992 auf einer Party kennen, beide beschrieben es als "Liebe auf den ersten Blick". Am 26. Mai 2006 gab das Paar die endgültige Scheidung bekannt.

Am 8. Januar 2007 erhielt Swank den 2325. Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame.
