Somit ist Justine Henin die bisher einzige Tennisspielerin, die als amtierende Nummer 1 der Tennisweltrangliste zurückgetreten ist. Im September 2009 kündigte Henin ihr Comeback für Anfang 2010 an. Henin wurde von vielen Tennisexperten als eine der komplettesten Spielerinnen auf der Damentour angesehen, ihr Markenzeichen und Paradeschlag – die einhändig gespielte Rückhand – wurde von John McEnroe sogar einmal als „the prettiest shot in all of tennis“ („der schönste Schlag, den es im Tennis überhaupt gibt“) bezeichnet.
