Paloma Faith (* 1984 oder 1985 in Hackney, London; eigentlicher Name Paloma Blomfield) ist eine englische Schauspielerin und Sängerin.

Biografie [Bearbeiten]

Paloma Faith hat eine Ausbildung als Jazzsängerin[2] und Tänzerin und erwarb einen MA am St Martins College in Theaterregie. Seit sie 18 war sang sie unter anderem in Cabarets in einer Coverband namens Paloma and the Penetrators und trat als Assistentin eines Zauberers auf und arbeitete in einem Burlesque-Theater[3].

Ins Musikgeschäft kam sie bei einem Gelegenheitsjob in einem Dessousladen. Sie kam mit einer Kundin ins Gespräch, die ihr entsprechende Kontakte vermitteln konnte[4]. Sie bekam ein Angebot als Sängerin für Amy Winehouse, zog aber eine eigene Musikkarriere vor. Musikalisch reicht ihre Bandbreite vom Jazzpop der 50er Jahre über den Motown-Soul bis zum Funk-Soul der 70er. Bekannt wurde die rothaarige Halbspanierin auch durch ihre extravaganten Bühnenshows, die besonderen Wert auf Kostüme und Bühnendekoration legen.

Ab 2006 spielte sie auch kleinere Rollen in zwei Fernsehserien, bevor sie 2007 durch ihre Mitwirkung in Die Girls von St. Trinian größere Bekanntheit erlangte.

Musikalisch hatte Paloma Faith mit dem Lied Stone Cold Sober im Sommer 2009 einen ersten Hit in ihrer Heimat, der im Radio sehr erfolgreich lief und auch im Ausland Interesse fand. Im August und September wurde es in Australien und weiteren europäischen Ländern veröffentlicht.
