Sarah Kate Silverman (* 1. Dezember 1970 in Bedford, New Hampshire) ist eine US-amerikanische Komikerin, Schauspielerin und Schriftstellerin. Sie ist die Tochter der jüdischen Einwanderer Donald (russisch) und Beth Ann (polnisch) Silverman und Schwester von Susan Silverman-Abramowitz (Rabbinerin und Autorin des Buches Jewish Family & Life: Traditions, Holidays, and Values for Today's Parents and Children), Laura Silverman (ebenfalls Schauspielerin) und Jody Speyer (Drehbuchautorin). Sie trat vor allem in einer Vielzahl von Fernsehserien, unter anderem Seinfeld, Frasier, Monk oder Star Trek: Voyager, in einzelnen Episoden auf.

In Nordamerika wurde Sarah Silverman 1993/1994 als Darstellerin und Autorin für Saturday Night Live bekannt. Allerdings wurde sie nach nur einer Staffel entlassen, da es nur einer ihrer Sketche in die Aufnahmeproben und kein einziger ins gesendete Programm schaffte. Diese Geschehnisse wurden 1996 in der Episode The New Writer/Der neue Autor der Larry Sanders Show, in der Silverman in einer Gastrolle eben jene neue Autorin spielt, parodiert. Für Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic (Musical/Stand-Up-Komödie, USA 2005) verfasste sie das Drehbuch und war als Hauptdarstellerin tätig. Nebenrollen spielte sie in den Filmen Verrückt nach Mary mit Cameron Diaz, Liebe per Express mit Reese Witherspoon und School of Rock mit Jack Black.

Mit der im Februar 2007 in den USA gestarteten Comedyserie The Sarah Silverman Program hat sie auf dem Sender Comedy Central eine eigene Sendung. Noch im gleichen Jahr moderierte sie die „MTV Movie Awards“.

Seit 2002 ist sie mit Jimmy Kimmel, einem US-amerikanischen Fernsehmoderator, liiert.
