Laura Linney
 

Laura Linney (* 5. Februar 1964 in New York City, New York) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.

Ihre Kino-Karriere begann 1992 neben Nick Nolte und Susan Sarandon in Lorenzos Öl. Schon bald spielte sie in exponierten Nebenrollen an der Seite von Richard Gere, Clint Eastwood und Jim Carrey. Für das umjubelte und vielfach ausgezeichnete Familiendrama You Can Count On Me sowie das Biopic Kinsey – Die Wahrheit über Sex über den Sexualforscher Alfred Kinsey erhielt sie je eine Oscar- und Golden Globe-Nominierung. Eine weitere Golden Globe- Nominierung gewann sie für ihre Darstellung in dem Jugendfilm Der Tintenfisch und der Wal. Zweimal überreichte man ihr den Emmy, unter anderen für eine Gastrolle in Frasier.

Ihre Rollenauswahl ist im Wesentlichen von Ensemble- Filmen geprägt. Unter anderem spielte sie bisher drei mal die Rolle der Mary Ann Singleton in der Verfilmung der Stadtgeschichten von Armistead Maupin.
