Gong Li
 

Gǒng Lì (chin. 巩俐/鞏俐) (* 31. Dezember 1965 in Shenyang, Liaoning) ist eine chinesische Filmschauspielerin. Ihre größten Erfolge feierte sie in den Filmen des Regisseurs Zhang Yimou, mit dem sie eine langjährige Beziehung hatte.

Biographie

Gong Li wurde als Tochter eines Wirtschaftsprofessors geboren. Sie wuchs in Jinan, der Hauptstadt der Provinz Shandong auf. Im Alter von 19 Jahren nahm sie ein Studium an der Zentralakademie für Schauspiel in Peking auf, das sie 1989 abschloss.

Noch während ihres Studiums engagierte sie Zhang Yimou 1987 für seinen Film Rotes Kornfeld, der 1988 bei den Internationalen Filmfestspielen in Berlin als Bester Film mit einem Goldenen Bären ausgezeichnet wurde.

Erste Schritte Richtung Hollywood machte sie mit dem Film Chinese Box im Jahre 1997. 2005 gelang ihr schließlich der internationale Durchbruch mit der Rolle der Hatsumomo in Die Geisha, die von Kritikern gelobt wurde. Sie spielte ebenfalls eine Rolle im Film Miami Vice aus dem Jahre 2006.
