Claire Holt received a lead role as Emma Gilbert in H2O: Just Add Water during its first and second series as a promiscuous, teenage Mermaid. As part of her work for that program, she appeared alongside her co-stars Phoebe Tonkin and Cariba Heine at the Nickelodeon UK Kids Choice Awards 2007, and has hosted a behind-the-scenes television special for the show. She has been cast for a role in the American film Messengers 2: The Scarecrow, in which she plays the daughter of the main character. Unfortunately, due to filming this movie, she was unable to continue her role in H2O, and will be replaced by a new character played by Indiana Evans. In addition to television and movie roles, Claire Holt has been featured in advertisements for Dreamworld, Sizzlers and Queensland Lifesaving.

Holt graduated Stuartholme School in Toowong, Queensland at the end of 2005, and plans to obtain a university degree. She has a black belt in tae-kwon-do, enjoys singing, and was in her school's choir. She is a competitive water polo player, and enjoys swimming, volleyball, and playing the guitar and piano.
