Delta Goodrem
 

Delta Goodrem spielt seit ihrem achten Lebensjahr Piano. In ihrer Kindheit drehte sie einige Werbespots und hatte eine Gastrolle in der Fernsehserie "Police Rescue". Mit zwölf Jahren nimmt sie ein Demo-Band auf, das sie an ihr Lieblings-Footballteam, die Sydney Swans, schickt. Delta hoffte, vor einem Spiel der Swans die australische Nationalhymne singen zu dürfen.

Das Demo-Band wird an den Manager Glenn Wheatley weitergeleitet, einen Sponsor der Swans. Dank Wheatley besorgt Delta, die inzwischen 15 Jahre ist, einen Plattenvertrag bei Sony; ein Jahr später erscheint ihre erste Single "I Don´t Care". Das bereits fertige Album "Delta" erschien allerdings nie.

Seit 2002 spielte sie in der australischen Serie Neighbours die Rolle der Nina Tucker. Durch Neighbours wurden auch Stars wie Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia oder Jason Donovan bekannt.

Am 11. November 2002 erschien ihre zweite Single "Born To Try", welche ihr erster Nummer-Eins-Hit wird. "Born To Try" ist auch die erste Auskopplung aus dem Debüt-Album "Innocent Eyes", von dem vier weitere Singles folgten. Alle werden Nummer-Eins-Hits. Das Album "Innocent Eyes" ist über 30 Wochen auf Platz Eins der australischen Album-Charts und wird mit 14 mal Platin ausgezeichntet.

Im Sommer 2003 wird bekannt, dass Delta an Morbus Hodgkin, einer Art von Lymphknotenkrebs, erkrankt ist. Sie muss sich einer Chemotherapie unterziehen. Im Frühjahr 2004 gilt der Krebs als besiegt. Im November 2004 startete sie mit der Single "Out Of The Blue" und dem Album "Mistaken Identity" ihr Comeback. Beide werden wiederum die Nummer Eins in den australischen Charts.
