Golden Brooks
 

Golden Brooks (* 1. Dezember 1970 in San Francisco, Kalifornien als Golden Ameda Brooks) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.


Leben und Leistungen [Bearbeiten]Brooks studierte Literaturwissenschaft und Soziologie an der University of California, Berkeley. Anschließend schloss sie ihr Studium am Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers mit dem Grad Master ab.

Brooks spielte ihre erste Filmrolle im Kurzfilm Drive by: A Love Story aus dem Jahr 1997. Ein Jahr später trat sie im Filmdrama Hell’s Kitchen – Vorhof zur Hölle an der Seite von Rosanna Arquette und Angelina Jolie auf. Im Filmdrama Timecode (2000) war sie neben Kyle MacLachlan, Salma Hayek, Jeanne Tripplehorn und Holly Hunter zu sehen.

Brooks spielt seit dem Jahr 2000 in der Fernsehserie Girlfriends die Rolle von Maya Denise Wilkes, der Mitarbeiterin und Freundin von Joan Carol Clayton (Tracee Ellis Ross), die später Buchautorin wird. Für diese Rolle wurde sie im Jahr 2003 für den Image Award nominiert, im Jahr 2004 gewann sie den BET Comedy Award. Im Jahr 2005 wurde sie für ihre Rolle im Thriller Motives (2004) für den Black Reel Award nominiert. Sie war im Musikvideo Straight To the Bank von 50 Cent aus dem Jahr 2007 zu sehen.

Brooks engagiert sich in ihrer Freizeit für die Pediatric AIDS Foundation und für das AIDS Project Los Angeles.
