Ashley Judd
 

Ashley Judd (* 19. April 1968 in Granada Hills, Kalifornien als Ashley Tyler Ciminella) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Sie ist die Tochter von Naomi Judd, die zusammen mit ihrer weiteren Tochter Wynonna unter dem Namen The Judds als Country-Musiker Karriere machte.
Nachdem sie 1990 an der Universität Kentucky ihren Abschluss in Französisch gemacht hatte, ging sie nach Hollywood. Dort hatte sie zwei Kurzauftritte in der Serie Raumschiff Enterprise: Das nächste Jahrhundert und war einige Male in der Serie Ein Strauß Töchter zu sehen. Nachdem sie 1993 für Ruby in Paradise den Independent Spirit Awards als "Beste Darstellerin" gewonnen hatte, besetzte Oliver Stone sie für Natural Born Killers, schnitt Judd jedoch wieder heraus. Über Nebenrollen in Smoke und Heat kam sie an die Rolle der Norma Jean in dem Fernsehfilm Norma Jean & Marilyn. Der Film, in dem Mira Sorvino die Marilyn gab, verhalf beiden zum Durchbruch. Nun konnte Judd in Filmen wie die John Grisham- Verfilmung Die Jury auftreten.
Ihr Erfolg ermöglichte ihr Hauptrollen in Actionfilmen und Thrillern wie Denn zum Küssen sind sie da, Doppelmord, High Crimes – Im Netz der Lügen und Twisted. Der Versuch, sich mit Männerzirkus im romantischem Fach zu etablieren, scheiterte jedoch.
Daneben stand sie in Literaturverfilmungen wie Simon Birch, Wo dein Herz schlägt und Die Göttlichen Geheimnisse der Ya-Ya Schwestern vor der Kamera.
Frida und De-Lovely waren Biopics über Frida Kahlo und Cole Porter.
Sie ist mit dem schottischen Rennfahrer Dario Franchitti verheiratet.
