Katie Liu Leung

(* 8. August 1987 in Motherwell, Schottland) ist eine britische Schauspielerin und wurde durch die Rolle der Cho Chang in dem Film Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch (2005) bekannt. Der Film ist Katie Leungs Kino-Debüt.

Leungs Eltern, Peter Leung und Kar Wai Li, leben getrennt, so dass Katie nun mit ihren zwei Brüdern und einer jüngeren Schwester bei ihrem Vater wohnt. Peter Leung betreibt ein chinesisches Restaurant in der Stadtmitte Glasgows neben einem eigenen Großhandelunternehmen für chinesische Nahrungsmittel. Somit wuchs Katie in einem gut situierten Elternhaus auf.

Ohne vorherige Schauspielerfahrungen wurde Katie Leung aus rund 4000 Bewerberinnen für die Rolle der Cho Chang in der Verfilmung des vierten Teils der Harry-Potter-Reihe Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch ausgewählt. Joanne K. Rowling, Autorin der Reihe, wollte für die Rolle der Cho Chang ein komplett unbekanntes Gesicht. Leung spielt diese Rolle auch in der Verfilmung des fünften Teils Harry Potter und der Orden des Phönix und des sechsten Teils Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz.
