Santa Clarita Diet ist eine US-amerikanische Horror-Comedy-Fernsehserie des Video-on-Demand-Anbieters Netflix, die von Victor Fresco konzipiert wurde. Die Hauptrollen spielen Drew Barrymore und Timothy Olyphant. Die zehnteilige erste Staffel wurde am 3. Februar 2017 weltweit bei Netflix veröffentlicht.

Im März 2017 verlängerte Netflix die Serie um eine zweite Staffel.

Handlung
Sheila und Joel Hammond sind Immobilienmakler im kalifornischen Santa Clarita. Mit ihrer Teenagertochter Abby leben sie ein komfortables Leben in der gediegenen Vorstadtsiedlung von Santa Monica. Das Leben der Familie nimmt eine dramatisch-komische Wendung, als Sheila sich in einen Zombie verwandelt, ohne dass man es ihr ansieht.

Auf der Suche nach einem Heilmittel, bei der Jagd nach menschlichem Frischfleisch für Sheila und mit der Notwendigkeit, Sheilas Zombiedasein geheimzuhalten, geraten die Hammonds in immer absurdere Situationen. Einzig der Nachbarsjunge Eric, ein Nerd, der unsterblich in Abby verliebt ist, wird eingeweiht und zu einem wichtigen Verbündeten.
