Dua Lipa (* 22. August 1995 in London) ist eine britisch-albanische Sängerin.

Biografie:
Dua Lipas Familie stammt aus Priština, der Hauptstadt des Kosovo, ihr Vater Dukagjin Lipa war dort und später in England Musiker. Sie selbst wurde in London geboren und besuchte die renommierte Sylvia Young Theatre School. Eine Zeit lang musste sie ihre Ausbildung dort unterbrechen, weil ihre Eltern aus beruflichen Gründen zurück in den Kosovo gingen, bevor Dua Lipa mit 15 Jahren alleine in die britische Hauptstadt zurückkehrte. Sie arbeitete in Clubs und als Model, und über das Internet versuchte sie, sich zu präsentieren und Kontakte zu knüpfen. Sie kam mit Marlon Roudette in Verbindung, der sie ermutigte, Demos aufzunehmen, die sie ab 2012 bei Soundcloud einstellte.

Schließlich wurden die Manager von Lana Del Rey auf sie aufmerksam, und sie kam zu einem Plattenvertrag mit Universal Music. Dieser ermöglichte ihr die Zusammenarbeit mit zahlreichen namhaften amerikanischen Produzenten wie Emile Haynie und Rodney Jerkins für die Fertigstellung ihres Debütalbums. Im Sommer 2015 erschien ihre erste Single New Love. Im Dezember folgte Be the One, die zuerst in Deutschland in die Charts kam. In England wurde sie zum Jahreswechsel in die BBC-Liste Sound of 2016 aufgenommen, die die erfolgversprechendsten Newcomer für das folgende Jahr prognostiziert.
