Holly Valance
Holly Valance (* 11. Mai 1983 in Melbourne; eigentlich Holly Rachel Vukadinović) ist eine australische Schauspielerin und Sängerin.
Als Tochter eines serbischen Vaters (Rajko Vukadinović) und einer britischen Mutter (Rachel Stevens) wurde sie in Auckland, Neuseeland, geboren. Sie wurde an einer katholischen High School in Melbourne, Australien unterrichtet. Dem Engagement in der australischen Vorzeige-Soap Nachbarn (Neighbours) folgte, wie zuvor bei Kylie Minogue und Natalie Imbruglia, eine Gesangskarriere, deren Epizentrum Großbritannien war. Der ersten Single „Kiss Kiss“, einer englischsprachigen Version eines Tarkan-Hits, war, nicht zuletzt dank des freizügigen Musikvideos, das wochenlang die englische Boulevard-Presse beschäftigte, großer Erfolg beschieden: zu der Nummer-Eins-Platzierung in Großbritannien kamen Top-Ten-Platzierungen in ganz Europa. Im Zuge dieses Erfolges erreichte auch das Debütalbum „Footprints“ die britischen Top Ten. Das Album wurde mit Gold in Australien (mehr als 35.000 verkaufte Alben), Großßbritannien (mehr als 150.000) und Japan (mehr als 100.000) ausgezeichnet! Weitere Auskopplungen konnten den Erfolg der Debütsingle nicht wiederholen, besonders außerhalb von Großbritannien hielt sich Valance nicht dauerhaft in der Präsenz. Dem poplastigen Erstling folgte im Folgejahr ein sehr dancelastiges, beatgetriebenes neues Album „State Of Mind“, das außerhalb Englands kaum noch Beachtung fand. In Japan entwickelte sich das Album jedoch zu einem großen Erfolg und wurde mit Gold (100.000+) und das mit nur einer Single-Auskopplung ausgezeichnet. Seit kurzem probiert sich Holly Valance in Hollywood. 2006 war sie neben Paris Hilton in der Komödie Pledge This!, sowie dem Film DOA: Dead or Alive zu sehen. |
