Sasha Cohen
Sasha Cohen (* 26. Oktober 1984 in Westwood, Kalifornien als Alexandra Pauline Cohen) ist eine US-amerikanische Eiskunstläuferin.
Sasha ist der russische Spitzname für Alexandra. Ihre Eltern sind Galina und Roger Cohen. Die Mutter, Galina Cohen, geb. Feldman, ist eine jüdische Emigrantin aus der Ukrainischen SSR, die eine Ballettausbildung durchlaufen hat, daher spricht Sasha Cohen neben Englisch auch Russisch. Ihre Schwester, Natasha, ist Konzertpianistin. Sie wohnt in Laguna Niguel, Kalifornien, USA. Sie begann mit dem Eiskunstlauftraining im Alter von 7 Jahren. Zuvor war sie Turnerin. Ihr Trainer ist John Nicks. Sie kehrte zu ihm Anfang 2005 zurück nachdem sie einige Jahre bei Tatjana Tarasowa und Robin Wagner trainiert hatte. Sasha Cohen trainiert im Aliso Viejo Ice Palace und startet für den Orange County Figure Skating Club und damit für die USA. 2006 gewann sie bei den Olympischen Spielen in Turin die Silbermedaille. Für die Saison 2006/2007 nimmt Sasha Cohen eine Auszeit vom ISU-Wettkampfsport. Sie plant jedoch, 2009 in Los Angeles bei den Weltmeisterschaften und 2010 in Vancouver bei den Olympischen Spielen zu starten. Im August 2007 gab die Profi-Tour „Stars on Ice“ bekannt, Sasha Cohen für 40 Shows von November 2007 bis April 2008 unter Vertrag genommen zu haben. Dadurch verlor Cohen ihren Amateur-Status und beendete somit ihre Wettkampfkarriere. Gegen Ende der dritten Staffel der US-Fernsehserie „Las Vegas“, in der Folge "Das Zeichen", hat Sasha Cohen einen Gastauftritt, in dem sie sich selbst spielt. Im April 2008 trat sie in der US-Fernsehsendung "Secret Talents Of The Stars" zusammen mit Chinesischen Akrobatinnen als Kontorsionistin (Schlangenmädchen) auf.
