Kim Cattrall
 

Kim Cattrall (* 21. August 1956 in Liverpool, Großbritannien als Kim Victoria Cattrall) ist eine kanadisch-US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.


Leben [Bearbeiten]Im Alter von drei Monaten emigrierte sie mit ihren Eltern, Dennis und Shane, nach Kanada. Mit elf Jahren kehrte sie in ihr Geburtsland zurück und absolvierte eine Ausbildung an der London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Link). Zurück in Vancouver, machte Kim ihren Highschool-Abschluss und errang ein Stipendium für die American Academy of Dramatic Arts (Link) in New York. In ihrem Abschlussjahr erhielt sie eine erste Filmrolle in Otto Premingers Rosebud (1975). Nach diesem Filmdebüt kehrte sie zurück nach Kanada und spielte Theater hauptsächlich in Vancouver und Toronto. Es folgte eine Gastrolle in der Fernsehserie Columbo (Mord per Telefon). Mitte der Achtziger Jahre lebte sie mit einem Architekten (2. Ehemann) in Frankfurt, weshalb sie auch ein fast akzentfreies Deutsch spricht. Seit 2004 ist sie mit dem Kanadier Alan Wyse liiert.


Rollen [Bearbeiten]Ihre bekannteste Rolle in einem Hollywood-Film war wohl die der vulkanischen Offizierin/Verräterin Valeris, die in ein Mordkomplott verstrickt war in Star Trek VI: Das unentdeckte Land. Zuvor spielte sie in anderen Kino-Produktionen Nebenrollen, wie in Big Trouble In Little China an der Seite von Kurt Russell oder in Fegefeuer der Eitelkeiten nach dem Roman von Tom Wolfe zusammen mit Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis und Melanie Griffith. Weitere Filme waren Der Boß mit Jean-Paul Belmondo, Mannequin mit Andrew McCarthy, James Spader und Estelle Getty, Police Academy I, Cyborg Agent sowie Die Eisprinzessin.

Permanente Bildschirmpräsenz und Popularität erlangte sie in der Rolle der Samantha Jones in der Fernsehserie Sex and the City.

Des Weiteren war sie im Video "Nothing´s gonna stop us now" von Starship zu sehen.
