Jena Malone
 

Jena Laine Malone (* 21. November 1984 in der Region des Sees Lake Tahoe, Nevada) ist eine US-amerikanische Filmschauspielerin.

Ihr Debüt gibt sie 12-jährig als Missbrauchsopfer 1996 im Drama Schutzlos – Schatten über Carolina unter der Regie von Anjelica Huston. Im Jahr darauf meistert sie das Schicksal eines Waisenmädchens als zentrale Figur in der TV-Produktion „Ellen Foster“. Sie überzeugt im Weiteren vor allem durch ihre dramatischen Qualitäten, seichten Komödien geht sie aus dem Weg. Einem größeren Publikum bleibt sie erstmalig an der Seite von Jake Gyllenhaal als Freundin des Titelhelden Donnie Darko (2001) in Erinnerung.
Jena Malone bewegt sich bevorzugt in der Independent-Szene, deren Filme zumeist ein zahlenmäßig geringeres Publikum erreichen, dafür aber anspruchsvollere Rollen versprechen. Bei American Girl (2002) fungiert sie neben ihrer Hauptrolle erstmals als Koproduzentin.
