Loona / Marie-Jose van der Kolk
 

Loona ist ein niederländisches Musikprojekt um Marie-Jose van der Kolk (* 16. September 1974 in IJmuiden). Bis 2005 war DJ Sammy Mitglied der Band, ab 2008 führt van der Kolk es alleine weiter.

Bandgeschichte
Entstehung
Mitte der 1990er Jahre lernte van der Kolk den Musikproduzenten DJ Sammy kennen, für den sie anfangs als Tänzerin bei Liveauftritten tätig war. Im späteren Verlauf übernahm van der Kolk unter dem Namen „Carisma“ Gesangspassagen zur Musik von DJ Sammy. Die ersten Singles und das Debütalbum Life Is Just a Game erschienen unter dem Namen „DJ Sammy feat. Carisma“. Mit Prince of Love hatte das Duo einen Top-30-Hit, auch das Album stieg bis auf Platz 28.

Umbenennung und weitere Zusammenarbeit
Nachdem das Duo den Projektnamen in „Loona“ (angelehnt an span. luna, Mond) änderte, wurde die Eurodance-Single Bailando veröffentlicht, die eine Coverversion des belgisch/spanischen Duos Paradisio war. Es folgten Gold- und Platin-Schallplatten in Deutschland. In Österreich und der Schweiz reichte es für Gold. Loona bekam für das Lied den Echo verliehen. Die nachfolgende Single Hijo de la Luna (Sohn des Mondes), wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit einem Orchester eingespielt.

1999 wurde das Album Lunita veröffentlicht, von dem die Singles Donde Vas und Mamboleo erschienen. Das Lied Mamboleo ist an Herbert Grönemeyers Mambo angelehnt. Im gleichen Jahr erschien das Nachfolgealbum Entre Dos Aguas mit vier Singleauskopplungen. Die Band gewann im gleichen Jahr wieder den Echo für die beste Dance-Single. Das zweite Album Entre dos Aguas erschien im Jahr 2000. Die Single Salvador Dalí erinnerte an den verstorbenen Künstler. Diese und die Single La Vida (Es Un Flor) gelangten nicht in die Top-50.

Im folgenden Jahr erschien mit Latin Lover eine Coverversion von You’re the Greatest Lover der Disco-Formation Luv'. 2002 erschien Rhythm of the Night.

Nachdem die Sängerin van der Kolk im Jahr 2005 Mutter wurde, kamen keine weiteren Titel des Projektes auf den Markt. Im Mai 2008 unterschrieb van der Kolk einen Vertrag mit Sony BMG/Ariola, um Loona als Soloprojekt weiterzuführen. Eine Single ist für den Juli 2008 geplant.
