Catherine Zeta-Jones (* 25. September 1969 in Swansea, Wales) ist eine britische Schauspielerin.

Zeta-Jones wuchs im walisischen Mumbles auf. Ihr Vater Dai Jones arbeitete in einer Süßigkeitenfabrik. Sie hat noch zwei Brüder, David Jones und Lyndon Jones, der für ihre Produktionsfirma arbeitet. Als Kind litt sie unter einem Virus, welcher bei ihr Atemschwierigkeiten verursachte. Aus diesem Grunde wurde sie an der Luftröhre operiert.Bis heute trägt sie eine Narbe davon.

Den richtigen Durchbruch in Hollywood schaffte sie mit dem Kinohit „Die Maske des Zorro“ als Hauptrolle neben Antonio Banderas und Anthony Hopkins auch auf der Leinwand den Durchbruch. Es folgten weitere erfolgreiche Produktionen, so unter anderem Das Geisterschloss, Traffic – Macht des Kartells und das Filmmusical Chicago, für dessen Rolle sie 2003 den Oscar als beste Nebendarstellerin erhielt. Ihre Rolle in dem Film Traffic musste in die Rolle einer schwangeren Frau umgeschrieben werden, da Zeta-Jones zu diesem Zeitpunkt schwanger mit ihrem ersten Sohn Dylan Michael war.
Als sie an der Oscarverleihung 2003 einen Oscar erhielt, war Catherine Zeta-Jones im 9. Monat schwanger und sang gleichzeitig live mit Queen Latifah, den für den Besten Filmsong Oscar-Nominierten Song, „I move on“ im Kodak Theatre.

Am 13. Dezember 1999 verlobte sie sich mit dem 25 Jahre älteren Schauspieler Michael Douglas, den sie am 18. November 2000 heiratete. Mit ihm hat sie zwei Kinder (Dylan Michael Douglas, * 8. August 2000, und Carys Zeta Douglas, * 20. April 2003).
