Linda Evangelista
 

Linda Evangelista ( * 10. Mai 1965 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Kanada) ist ein kanadisches Mannequin und Fotomodell, das zu den sogenannten „Supermodels“ der 1990er Jahre gehörte.

Karriere

Linda Evangelista kommt aus einer italienischen Familie und ist streng katholisch erzogen worden. Sie wurde 1978 beim Miss Teen Niagara Contest von einem Modelscout entdeckt. Daraufhin zog sie nach New York, wo sie für die Modelagentur Elite arbeitete. Dort schaffte sie ihren großen Durchbruch; anschließend zog sie nach Paris und war auf allen großen Laufstegen der Welt zuhause. 1996 gewann sie den VH1 Fashion Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sie ist bekannt für ihre Wandelbarkeit und ihre ständig wechselnden Haarfarben und -schnitte, weshalb sie den Spitznamen „Chamäleon“ erhalten hat. Außerhalb der Laufstege ist sie durch einen Auftritt in einem Musikvideo von George Michael bekannt geworden.

Seit 2008 macht Evangelista Werbung für L'Oreal.

Privatleben [Bearbeiten]

Von 1987 bis 1993 war Evangelista mit Gerald Marie von der Agentur Elite verheiratet. 1999 erlitt sie während der Beziehung mit Frankreichs Nationaltorhüter Fabien Barthez im 5. Schwangerschaftsmonat eine Fehlgeburt. Am 11. Oktober 2006 brachte Evangelista einen Jungen zur Welt; Vater ist ein New Yorker Architekt.

Evangelistas berühmtestes Zitat ist „We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day“ („Für weniger als 10.000 Dollar am Tag stehen wir gar nicht erst auf“), das 1990 in einem Interview der Zeitschrift Vogue veröffentlicht wurde.
