Mel B. (* 29. Mai 1975 in Leeds, England als Melanie Janine Brown) ist eine britische Sängerin und Schauspielerin. Sie war Mitglied der Popmusikgruppe Spice Girls und hat dort den Spitznamen Scary Spice ("Die Unheimliche").

Nach dem Ende der Spice Girls erschien im Jahre 2000 ihr erstes Soloalbum Hot. Ihm folgte 2005 das zweite Soloalbum LA State Of Mind und floppte zur Veröffentlichung gewaltig: Lediglich 670 Exemplare gingen in der ersten Woche in England über den Ladentisch und brachten das Album damit auf den 453. Platz der britischen Albumverkäufe. Hot schaffte es seinerzeit immerhin auf Platz 28 der Hitliste.

2003 startete sie ihre Filmkarriere im britischen Fernsehen durch die Mitarbeit an Fernsehfilmen. Im folgenden Jahr sah man sie als Nebendarstellerin in der Komödie The Seat Filler an der Seite von Kelly Rowland.

Am 13. September 1998 heiratete sie den Tänzer Jimmy Gulzar; gemeinsam haben sie eine Tochter Phoenix Chi (* 21. Februar 1999). Die Ehe wurde 2001 wieder geschieden. Aus einer kurzzeitigen Beziehung mit dem US-amerikanischen Schauspieler Eddie Murphy hat sie ihre zweite Tochter Angel Iris (*3. April 2007). Nachdem Murphy medienwirksam die Vaterschaft bezweifelt hatte, bewies ein DNA-Test am 11. Juni 2007 in einem Krankenhaus in Bevery Hills das Gegenteil.

Sechs Jahre nach ihrer Trennung haben die Spice Girls im Juni 2007 eine Welttournee mit zwölf Konzerten in elf Städten für Ende 2007/Anfang 2008 angekündigt. Bei ihrem Comeback will die Gruppe in Originalbesetzung auftreten.
