Regina King (* 15. Januar 1971 in Los Angeles) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin

Leben

King wuchs in Los Angeles als Tochter einer Lehrerin und eines Elektrikers auf, die sich im Jahr 1979 scheiden ließen. Ihre ältere Schwester ist die Schauspielerin Reina King. Am 23. April 1997 heiratete sie Ian Alexander Sr., mit dem sie ein Kind hat. Sie reichten am 8. November 2006 die Scheidung ein. Seit 2010 lebt sie mit dem Schauspieler Malcolm-Jamal Warner zusammen.

Politisch engagierte sie sich für den damaligen amerikanischen US-Präsidentschaftskandidaten und heutigen Präsidenten Barack Obama.

Karriere

Berühmt wurde sie unter anderem durch die Rolle der Carla Dean im Film Der Staatsfeind Nr. 1, die sie an der Seite von Will Smith spielte. Für diesen Auftritt wurde sie 1999 für den Image Award nominiert. Für die Rolle in Ray gewann sie 2005 den Image Award und den Golden Satellite Award.
