Rachel Sarah Bilson (* 25. August 1981 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien, USA) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin, die ihren Durchbruch vor allem durch die Rolle der Summer Roberts in der Fernsehserie O.C., California schaffte. Davor war sie bereits in den Fernsehserien Meine wilden Töchter, Buffy – Im Bann der Dämonen und Die wilden Siebziger zu sehen.

1999 machte sie ihren High School Abschluss auf der Notre Dame Highschool in Los Angeles, California. Durch die Unterstützung ihrer Eltern gelang es ihr schließlich, in den Cast des Filmes The Wrong Guys aufgenommen zu werden.

Zudem war sie in 7 Episoden der relativ unbekannten Miniserie Human Target, die auf einer Comic-Reihe basiert, zu sehen. In den Theaterstücken Bye Bye Birdie, The Crucible und Once Upon a Mattress ergatterte sie erstmals Hauptrollen.

1998 bekam sie eine Rolle in der Fantasy Serie It's True, die allerdings wegen schlechter Quoten nach Ausstrahlung des Pilotfilm abgesetzt wurde. Sie versuchte aber weiterhin ihren Traum zu verwirklichen und drehte einige Werbespots zum Beispiel für Subway.

Nach ihrem Abschluss ging sie weiterhin zu zahlreichen Vorsprechen. 2003 bekam sie schließlich zwei kleine Rollen in den Serien Buffy – Im Bann der Dämonen und Meine wilden Töchter.

Es folgte eine Hauptrolle in dem Film Unbroken. Schließlich sprach sie für O.C., California vor und bekam die Rolle der Summer Roberts, die ihr zum internationalen Durchbruch verhalf. Ihr Charakter war anfangs nur als Nebenrolle angelegt, wird aber seit der der 14. Folge der 1. Staffel als Hauptrolle geführt. Im Jahr 2006 wurde die 3. Staffel von O.C., California in Deutschland ausgestrahlt, die 4., die mit 16 Episoden im US-Fernsehsender FOX abgeschlossen wurde, läuft im Juni 2007 in Deutschland an. Aufgrund immer weiter fallender Quoten in den USA wurde die 4. Staffel mit weniger Folgen produziert, als noch die ersten drei. Eine weitere Staffel der Serie wird es laut FOX nicht mehr geben.

Im Jahre 2006 spielte Rachel Bilson an der Seite von Scrubs-Star Zach Braff die Rolle der Kim im Film Der letzte Kuss (Originaltitel The last kiss)

Bilson war drei Jahre mit ihrem Serienkollegen Adam Brody liiert, bis sie 2006 ihre Trennung offiziell bekannt gaben. Sie lebt heute nach wie vor in Los Angeles.
