Portia De Rossi
 

Portia de Rossi [ˈPɔːʃa ...] (* 31. Januar 1973 in Melbourne, Australien als Amanda (Mandy) Lee Rogers) ist eine australische Schauspielerin.

Mandy Rogers ist das zweite Kind von Barry und Margaret Rogers (der Vater starb 1982 an einem Herzinfarkt) und wuchs zusammen mit ihrem Bruder Michael in Geelong nahe Melbourne auf. Mit 15 Jahren änderte sie ihren Namen in Portia de Rossi. Nach der Highschool nahm sie ein Jurastudium an der University of Melbourne auf und war zeitweise als Model und in Werbespots tätig. Ein Produzent wurde auf de Rossi aufmerksam und verschaffte ihr eine Rolle in dem britisch-australischen Film Verführung der Sirenen; das Studium brach sie 1993 ab. 1998 übernahm sie die Rolle der Nelle Porter in der US-amerikanischen Fernsehserie Ally McBeal, die sie einem großen Publikum bekannt machte.

Ihre deutsche Synchronstimme wird ihr meist von Arianne Borbach geliehen.


Persönliches Leben [Bearbeiten]De Rossi, die nun ihr Leben als homosexuelle Frau lebt, war mit Mel Metcalfe verheiratet. Auch wenn diese Heirat auf einer Beziehung beruhte, war es doch mehr ein Versuch, eine Greencard zu bekommen. Die Ehe klappte aber nicht und eine Scheidung war die Folge.

Von 2000 bis 2004 war Portia de Rossi mit der Sängerin Francesca Gregorini, Stieftochter von Ringo Starr, zusammen. Aber dann verliebte sie sich in die zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch liierte Ellen DeGeneres. De Rossi und DeGeneres trennten sich von ihren Partnerinnen und leben seitdem zusammen.
