Kari Wuhrer
 

Kari Samantha Wührer (* 28. April 1967 in Brookfield, Connecticut, USA) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin und Sängerin. Sie stammt von deutschen Einwanderern und Cherokee-Indianern ab. Einer ihrer Vorfahren war ein Komponist aus Frankfurt/Main.

Sie begann als Model und Rocksängerin, wurde für das Fernsehen entdeckt, studierte an der New York University, an der Columbia University und an der Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London Schauspiel. Ihre Rollen hat sie wohl weiterhin ihrer überzeugenden äußeren Erscheinung zu verdanken, was ihr mehrere lobende Erwähnungen in bebilderten Magazinen einbrachte. Über Brustimplantate schrieb sie einen nachdenklichen Artikel. Freunde nennen sie wegen ihrer Fahrkünste auch „Crash“. Sie bezeichnete sich selbst als „Multimediagirl“, da sie unglaublich viel Zeit im Internet verbrachte, was durch ihre Mutterrolle aber nachgelassen hat.

Verschiedene Fachzeitschriften nannten sie die „Queen of B-Movies“ oder „Queen of Trash-Movies“. Ende der 90er Jahre lebte sie kurz in Prag. Nach dem Filmflop von Arac Attack floh sie regelrecht nach Bukarest um in Rumänien diverse Horrorfilme zu drehen.

Bekannt geworden ist sie 1997 auf Grund ihrer Rolle der Maggie Beckett in der Serie Sliders.

Das Singen hat sie nicht aufgegeben. 1999 veröffentlichte sie ein eigenes Musikalbum mit dem Titel Shiny, in dem sie auch die Flöte und Gitarre spielte. Sie spielte außerdem die Tanya in den Zwischensequenzen des Computerspiels „Command & Conquer - Alarmstufe Rot 2“.

Sie ist zum zweiten Mal verheiratet und ist Mutter zweier Kinder.
