Calista Flockhart
 

Calista Kay Flockhart (* 11. November 1964 in Freeport, Illinois) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin.

Aufgewachsen ist Flockhart im Bundesstaat New York, nachdem sie mit ihren Eltern von Iowa über Minnesota und später nach New Jersey umziehen musste. Nach ihrem Highschool-Abschluss studierte sie an der Rutgers University in New Jersey Schauspielerei und machte ihren Bachelor. Nach ersten Engagements am Broadway, wo sie unter anderem im Tennessee Williams-Stück Glasmenagerie spielte, bekam sie größere Rollen in einigen Filmen, darunter The Birdcage – Ein Paradies für schrille Vögel (1996) und American Dreamer – Charmante Lügner (1997).

Der große Durchbruch gelang ihr 1997 in der Rolle der Ally Mc Beal in der gleichnamigen Fernsehserie. Ally McBeal war ein großer Quotenerfolg und lief bis 2002. Seitdem ist die Karriere von Flockhart, die seit 2002 mit dem US-amerikanischen Schauspieler Harrison Ford verlobt ist, etwas ins Stocken geraten. Im September 2006 hatte ihre neue Serie Brothers & Sisters (ABC) in den USA Premiere. Darin spielt sie wieder eine Hauptrolle als Tochter von Sally Field und als Schwester von Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under – Gestorben wird immer).
