Carla Bruni
 

Carla Bruni (* 23. Dezember 1968 in Turin, Italien, als Carla Bruni Tedeschi) ist ein italienisch-französisches Model und Musikerin.

Im italienischen Turin geboren, wuchs Carla Bruni ab dem fünften Lebensjahr in Frankreich auf und besuchte später ein Internat in der Schweiz. Ihr Vater war Mitinhaber des Pirelli-Konzerns, ihre Mutter war klassische Konzertpianistin. Ihre Schwester ist die Schauspielerin Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.

Bekannt wurde Bruni zunächst als eines der bestbezahlten Models der 1990er-Jahre. Nach Beendigung ihrer Modelkarriere stieg Bruni ins Musikgeschäft ein und veröffentlichte 2002 das französischsprachige Album Quelqu’un m’a dit, das insbesondere in Frankreich und der Schweiz ein großer Erfolg wurde. Charakteristisch ist ihre sanfte, etwas rauchig klingende Stimme.


Die Modeljahre (1987–1998)

Mit neunzehn Jahren brach sie ihre Studien der Kunst und Architektur ab, um als Model zu arbeiten. Zunächst zierte sie Cover von Modemagazinen und arbeitete für Auftraggeber wie L’Oréal und Christian Dior. Zwischen 1995 und 1997 war sie unter anderem für Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent und John Galliano auf dem Laufsteg. Bruni gehörte mit einem Jahresgehalt von bis zu 7,5 Millionen Dollar zu den bestbezahlten Models. Während dieser Zeit spielte sie auch in mehreren Filmen mit, darunter 1995 in Catwalk und in 1997 Paparazzi. 1998 verabschiedete sich Bruni aus der Welt der Mode.


Einstieg ins Musikgeschäft (seit 2000)

Nach Beendigung ihrer Modelkarriere widmete sich Bruni dem Chanson. Den ersten Erfolg im Musikgeschäft hatte Bruni im Jahr 2000. Für den französischen Sänger Julien Clerc schrieb sie sechs Lieder für dessen Album Si j’étais elle. Es landete auf Platz eins in den französischen Charts.

Bruni brachte 2002 ihr Debütalbum Quelqu’un m’a dit auf den Markt, das sie selbst komponierte, textete und interpretierte; zudem spielt sie bei einigen Stücken selber Gitarre. Das Album verkaufte sich innerhalb kürzester Zeit mehr als eine Million Mal und machte Bruni europaweit bekannt. In Frankreich landete Quelqu’un m’a dit auf Platz Eins der Charts, in Deutschland schaffte das Album in kurzer Zeit den Einstieg in die Top 20.

Für das Album "Longtemps" ihres musikalischen Weggefährten Louis Bertignac (Produzent von Quelqu’un m’a dit und ehemaliges Mitglied der Gruppe Téléphone) schrieb sie 2005 die Texte zu 10 Titeln, einen davon in Zusammenarbeit mit Marine Delterme. Auch Raphaël Enthoven, dem auf Brunis Album Quelqu’un m’a dit das Lied Raphaël gewidmet war, steuerte einen Text für Bertignac bei.

Bruni sang 2006 im Duett mit Aldo Romano auf dessen Album Chante. Des Weiteren ist sie auf dem Album Oceana des deutschen Jazz-Trompeters Till Brönner zu hören.

Ihr Lied Le plus beau du quartier aus dem Album Quelqu’un m’a dit war 2006 in der H&M-Werbung zu hören.

Brunis zweites eigenes Album No Promises erschien am 12. Januar 2007. Es enthält im Gegensatz zum Vorgängeralbum ausschließlich vertonte englische Lyrik.

* Eine – unsympathisch gezeichnete – Figur in Justine Lévys stark autobiografisch gefärbtem Schlüsselroman Rien de grave aus dem Jahr 2004 basiert angeblich auf Bruni, für die Lévys Ex-Ehemann Raphaël Enthoven seine Frau verließ und mit der er einen Sohn hat.

Beziehung und Ehe mit Nicolas Sarkozy
Kurz vor Weihnachten 2007 berichteten mehrere Medien, der französische Staatspräsident Nicolas Sarkozy sei mit Bruni liiert. Sarkozy und das Ex-Fotomodell hätten sich bei einem Ausflug in den Vergnügungspark Disneyland von mehreren Fotografen begleiten lassen. Der Sender „France Info“ berichtete, damit hätten sie ihre Beziehung öffentlich machen wollen. Andere Journalisten meinten, das Ganze sei eine ausgeklügelte PR-Aktion, eine „offensive Inszenierung“. Weihnachten 2007 flog sie mit Sarkozy nach Luxor in den Urlaub. Die Umstände des Fluges und der Aufenthalt in Ägypten waren umstritten. Ein ägyptischer Parlamentsabgeordneter warf seiner Regierung vor, durch den offiziellen Empfang des unverheirateten Paares ein schlechtes moralisches Beispiel zu geben und die „offizielle Prostitution durch Staatsoberhäupter zu akzeptieren“.

Nach Ägypten war Saudi-Arabien das Reiseziel Sarkozys, ein saudischer Diplomat sagte "Sarkozy soll seine Herzensdame aus religiösen Gründen zu Hause lassen". Intime Beziehungen zwischen nicht verheirateten Personen sind in Saudi-Arabien verboten. Bruni wurde daraufhin von der saudischen Regierung offiziell ausgeladen und kam nicht mit, ein französischer Regierungssprecher teilte daraufhin mit, dass die Mitreise von Bruni sowieso nicht vorgesehen war.

Nachdem Bruni Anfang Januar 2008 Sarkozy auf einen Besuch bei Jordaniens König Abdullah II begleitet hatte, teilte der französische Staatspräsident mit, dass er zur offiziellen Einladung zum Nationalfeiertag Indiens am 26. Januar mit Bruni anreise. Laut indischen Presseberichten sorgte diese Ankündigung für Verwirrung, da das Protokoll den Umgang mit nicht verheirateten Begleiterinnen von Staatsbesuchern nicht vorsehe.

Am 2. Februar 2008 heirateten Bruni und Sarkozy im Élysée-Palast.
