So-Ri Moon
Moon So-ri This is a Korean name; the family name is Mun. Moon So-ri (born on July 2, 1974) is a Marcello Mastroianni Award, Grand Bell Award, Golden Space Needle Award winning South Korean actress. She made her acting debut in the great Lee Chang Dong's Peppermint Candy and captured international acclaim at the Venice Film Festival for her marvelous portrayal, or more possession, of a woman named Gong-ju Han with severe cerebral palsy in the seminal Korean New Wave film Oasis. Her debut is quite impressive. Actually, she had major in education and was working in rehabilitation center for the physically-challenged. In fact, she had deep attention about performance. And then, Director Lee Chang-dong, asked her to notice how the behavior and movement of the people she worked with could be taken for scenes of the movie Oasis. Moon So-ri is only the second Korean to win a prize at the Venice Film Fesival, after Kang Soo-Yeon in 1985 for The Surrogate Woman. Personal background: Sibling : One brother Hobby : Playing the violin, Gayagum On December 24, 2006 she married Golden Raven winning Korean filmmaker Jang Jun-hwan, director of Save the Green Planet! (2003). Career: Moon's first major film roles came in Lee Chang-dong's Peppermint Candy and Oasis, both played opposite Sol Kyung-gu. Her role in Oasis garnered praise and critical acclaim (including the Marcello Mastroianni Award as best new actress at the 2002 Venice Film Festival) for her meticulous and moving portrayal of a woman with cerebral palsy. She followed up this award-winning performance by playing a housewife who has an affair with a teenage boy in Im Sang-soo's critically-acclaimed A Good Lawyer's Wife. This won her Best Actress at the Grand Bell Awards in 2004. Since then, she has held leading roles as the Song Kang-ho's wife in The President's Barber, as an emotionally damaged woman in Sa-kwa and as a sexually promiscuous professor in Bewitching Attraction.
