Daphne Louise Blunt (born October 23, 1997) is an American teen actress, singer, web television presenter and fashionista. Daphne Blunt is the face of Fanlala.com, where she regularly interviews celebrities on the red carpets of Hollywood, anchors Fanlala's web TV news show The Feed, and stars in her own fashion and style show, Daphne's Look of the Week. Daphne does the lead voice-over for Fanlala.com's Josie and her Celebrity Friends, a comedy following a teenage girl and her imaginary celebrity friends! Daphne recently starred as Emma in the new Nickelodeon show The Thundermans.

Daphne Blunt is best known for starring as Kayla in the Radio Disney series My Dream, which is described by The Hollywood Reporter as "a contemporary story on a format reminiscent of the 1940s, before TV was pervasive."[2] However, unlike Depression-era radio series, that typically featured episodes lasting 30 minutes, episodes of Disney's My Dream last just 90 seconds each, described as "bite-size chucks" by Disney executives.The character Kayla is a 14-year-old teenage girl from the Midwest who wants to be rockstar. Listeners follow her in each episode as she pursues her dream while dealing with the usual struggles, responsibilities and emotional ups and downs of an everyday teen.

Blunt made her first television appearance at the age of 10 on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless.[5] She starred in the movie The Things You Lose in the Ocean,[6] which premiered in May 2010 as part of the Dodge College Graduate Thesis Program at Chapman University in Orange, California.

Blunt has appeared on other television series and films including the Nickelodeon game show BrainSurge, Lifetime movie Amish Grace and Disney.com webisode Solution Street. She also starred in the 2009 television pilot My Daddy is the President.

Blunt has also appeared in numerous national TV commercials, including Disney Interactive and Kmart's 2009 Back to School series.[9] Her Kmart commercial Rockstare, which received much notoriety, can be viewed on YouTube.

Blunt is also a recording artist and songwriter. She was a finalist with her pop song Crush Rush in the 2009 International Songwriting Competition.



Career

Early career

Blunt was born at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. She began acting at the age of 3, appearing in local theater. In 2004, she moved to Miami, where she continued to perform in local theater and began modeling for one of the top modeling agencies in the country, Irene Marie Models, best known for their reality show 8th and Ocean. In 2008, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting and singing career. She is represented by her agent Coast to Coast Talent Group in Los Angeles, and managed by Go Talent Management in Studio City, California.

Blunt starred in My Dream on Radio Disney, which first aired on July 5, 2010. While radio episodes are in audio format only, each is turned into a webisode by Radio Disney and made available on their website. She has received international attention for her role in the series, including coverage in the United States,Canada, China, India, Singapore, South Africa,Taiwan and the UAE.

Through Fanlala.com, Daphne Blunt regularly interviews celebrities on the red carpets of movie premiers, including Gnomeo & Juliet, Disney's Frozen and Monsters University to name a few. Blunt anchors Fanlala's E-news show "The Feed," and stars in her own fashion & style show, Daphne's Look of the Week. Daphne also does the lead voiceover for Fanlala.com's "Josie and her Celebrity Friends," a comedy following a tennage girl and her imaginary celebrity friends! Previously, she was the host of Daphne's LaLaLand on Fanlala.com, which was also syndicated on cable television around the world. She also currently hosts Daphne's Look of the Week on the same website. She is also a celebrity host on Fanlala.com for special events such as the Hollywood Christmas Parade.

Blunt first appeared on a television series in 2008 as Jayele on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless. Shortly after she starred in the 2009 television sitcom pilot My Daddy is the President as Kylie, the daughter of a newly elected Obama-like character.In the pilot, Kylie has to use her charm, wits and a little magic to restore her dad's State of the Union speech to the computer that she and her friends had messed up while playing video games in the Oval Office.

Blunt starred in the 2010 film The Things You Lose in the Ocean,[6] which was filmed as part of the Dodge College Graduate Thesis Program at Chapman College in Orange, California. The film, set in the 1940s, is a story about Caribbean black magic in which Blunt's character Jilly-Ann must fight off the demons created by her mother years before. It was to be entered into a number of film festivals in 2010.

Musical career

Blunt was named a finalist in the 2009 International Songwriting Competition (ISC), which had over 15,000 entries. The ISC has a prestigious panel of judges that were reviewing the finalists including Grammy winners Steve Winwood, Timbaland, Rob Thomas, Adele and Jerry Lee Lewis. The judges also included industry executives including Rick Krim from VH1, Brian Malouf from Walt Disney Records, Douglas C. Cohn from Nickelodeon and Amanda Ghost from Epic Records. She got an honorable mention for her song Crush Rush in the Teen category.

In July 2009, Blunt recorded her first pop single, Crush Rush,and followed it shortly with her first music video.In the fall of 2009, she recorded her second pop single entitled "Rock n Roll." Daphne co-wrote both songs with Jonathan George, who was the Grand Champion of Ed McMahon's Next Big Star, a sequel to Star Search.

During the first season of the series My Dream, Blunt released her third single, Hello World, on Radio Disney, and published a video for it on YouTube on March 21, 2011.
