Claire van der Boom is an Australian film and TV actress.
Biograpy
Van der Boom was born in Broome, Western Australia and graduated from Sydney's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2005.
Acting career
Following graduation, van der Boom appeared in the Australian TV series Love My Way and East West 101. Her first major role in a feature film was in The Square, which was directed by Nash Edgerton and screened at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2008.
She recently filmed a prominent female role in the Stephen Spielberg-produced mini-series The Pacific. This 10-part series, which is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Band of Brothers, was largely filmed in Australia and is expected to be released internationally in 2010.
Van der Boom appeared on Australian TV as Grace Barry in Channel 10's new police drama Rush, but her character was killed off in episode 11, which aired 11 November 2008. Josef Ber's character, Sergeant Dominic "Dom" Wales, was originally scripted to be killed off however during production of the first season, Van der Boom had her US working visa approved in which she had forgotten she had applied for. The visa was a "Residency Visa", which required her to move to the US. She stars in the 2010 released psychological thriller Red Hill, which is directed by Patrick Hughes.
