Jill Hennessy

Jillian Noel Hennessy (* 25. November 1968 in Edmonton, Alberta) ist eine kanadische Schauspielerin, die in Europa vornehmlich durch die titelgebende Hauptrolle der Jordan Cavanaugh in der Krimiserie Crossing Jordan bekannt ist.

Leben und Karriere
Hennessy wuchs mit ihrer Zwillingsschwester Jacqueline und ihrem jüngeren Bruder John Jr. bei ihrem Vater, einem Fleischhändler, auf. Die Mutter, Maxine, hatte die Familie verlassen. Durch ihre multinationale Abstammung sprechen sie und ihre Geschwister fünf Sprachen. Jill spricht neben Englisch, fließend Italienisch, Spanisch, Französisch und Deutsch.

Nach der High School wurde Jill Schauspielerin und trat in zahlreichen Fernsehserien und Filmen auf. 1993 gehörte sie zum engsten Kreis der Kandidatinnen für die Rolle der Dana Scully in der Hit-Serie Akte X. Der Part ging jedoch an Gillian Anderson, woraufhin sich Hennessy der Serie Law & Order zuwandte, in der sie in der Rolle der Anwältin Claire Kincaid ziemlich populär wurde. Es folgten Rollen in Hollywood-Produktionen wie Molly (1999) mit Elisabeth Shue und Es begann im September (2000) mit Richard Gere und Winona Ryder.

Im selben Jahr heiratete Hennessy den Schauspieler Paolo Mastropietro.

Im Jahr 2001 plante der Sender NBC eine neue Krimiserie um eine schlagfertige Pathologin und ihr Team. Der Ausführende Produzent Tim Kring war sich jedoch unsicher, ob Hennessy für die Titelrolle geeignet war. Er lud sie zum Essen in ein Restaurant ein, das sich aber peinlicherweise als geschlossen herausstellte. Kring entschuldigte sich, aber Hennessy erwiderte nur: "Dude, who gives a shit? We'll go someplace else!" (ungefähr: „Scheiß drauf, Junge, geh'n wir woanders hin!“). Da wusste Kring, dass er seine Hauptdarstellerin gefunden hatte, und die Serie Crossing Jordan wurde mit Jill Hennessy in der Hauptrolle ein großer Erfolg.

2003 war Hennessy mit ihrem und Paolos erstem Sohn, Marco, schwanger, weshalb der Start der dritten Staffel von Crossing Jordan um fast sechs Monate verschoben wurde. Auch anschließend trat sie wegen der Mutterschaft nicht in jeder Folge auf, weshalb die Serie sich vorerst auf die anderen Charaktere konzentrierte.
