Claire Oelkers

Claire Oelkers (* 12. Juni 1985 in Düsseldorf) ist eine deutsche Musikerin und Schauspielerin. In Grevenbroich bei Köln aufgewachsen lebte sie nach dem Abitur einige Zeit in Köln, zog aber 2006 nach Hamburg, und führt seither eine Fernbeziehung mit ihrer Band Karpatenhund, wegen der sie nach wie vor regelmäßig nach Köln pendelt.

Biographie
Claire Oelkers wuchs in Grevenbroich bei Köln auf, besuchte dort das Gymnasium und machte 2004 ihr Abitur. Danach begann sie im Herbst 2004 ein geisteswissenschaftliches Studium an der Universität zu Köln. Seit 2000 arbeitet sie als Schauspielerin und nahm einige Jahre entsprechenden Unterricht und beteiligte sich an Workshops. Über ihre Schauspielerei wurden laut eigener Aussage „zwielichtige Typen“ auf sie aufmerksam, die aus Frau Oelkers das deutsche Gegenstück zu Avril Lavigne aufbauen wollten, das Projekt verließ jedoch nie den Demostatus. 2003 oder 2004 lernte Claire Oelkers den Kölner Musiker Björn Sonnenberg kennen, der in Szenekreisen Bekanntheit durch seine Bands The Dackel 5 und Locas in Love erlangt hatte. Zusammen mit der Clique um Sonnenberg begann Oelkers, an Stücken zu arbeiten, woraus sich in Windeseile die Band Karpatenhund und ihr Oeuvre kristallisierten. Darüber, wie sich Oelkers und die Locas in Love fanden, kursieren mehrere Versionen: im Rolling Stone heißt es, die fünf Musiker haben alle auf der Sportbootmesse BOOT gearbeitet und seien bei einem „Überraschungskonzert mit internationalem Stargast, der David Hasselhoff war“ ins Gespräch gekommen, im Spiegel wird der Kölner Musikproduzent Wolfgang Stach erwähnt, der beide einander vorgestellt hat, in anderen Interviews sprach die Gruppe davon, einander in „Kölner Kneipenzusammenhängen“ über den Weg gelaufen zu sein. Karpatenhund veröffentlichten ihre erste Single im April 2007 und ihr Album im Mai bei Virgin/EMI und legten einen sehr erfolgreichen Start hin. Seit Oktober 2007 arbeitet Claire Oelkers als Moderatorin beim Musiksender MTV.
