Mädchen Amick (* 12. Dezember 1970 in Sparks, Nevada) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Ihren Vornamen verdankt sie ihrer deutschstämmigen Mutter Judy, die keinen gängigen amerikanischen Vornamen wollte.

Biografie [Bearbeiten]

Als sie zweieinhalb Jahre alt war, ließen sich ihre Eltern Judy und Bill scheiden. Kurze Zeit später heiratete ihre Mutter einen Musiker. Im Alter von nur drei Jahren lernte Mädchen unter Anleitung ihres Stiefvaters, Klavier zu spielen. Später folgten noch weitere Instrumente wie Bass, Geige und Gitarre.

Während ihrer Schulzeit reifte in ihr der Entschluss, Schauspielerin zu werden. Sie nahm am Schauspielunterricht an der Robert McQueen High School in Reno teil und erlernte gleichzeitig das Tanzen (Stepptanz, Ballett, Jazztanz, moderner Tanz).

1987 ging sie im Alter von 16 Jahren nach Los Angeles, um eine Schauspielkarriere zu verfolgen. Sie arbeitete zunächst als Model und Tänzerin in diversen Videoclips von Rick Astley oder Julio Iglesias. Es folgten erste Auftritte in den Fernsehserien Star Trek: The Next Generation und Baywatch 1989.

Größere Bekanntheit erlangte sie dann 1989/90 durch ihre feste Rolle in David Lynchs Fernsehserie Twin Peaks, in der sie die Kellnerin Shelly Johnson spielt, die von ihrem Ehemann Leo unterdrückt und verprügelt wird.

1992 spielte sie eine der Hauptrollen in dem von Stephen King geschriebenen Horrorfilm Stephen Kings Schlafwandler (OT: Sleepwalkers). Von ihren weiteren Kinorollen ist die Zusammenarbeit mit James Spader in dem Film Nightmare Lover (OT: Dream Lover) von 1994 erwähnenswert.

Im Fernsehen hatte sie Hauptrollen in den kurzlebigen Serien Central Park West (1995/96) und Fantasy Island (1998/99) sowie Gastrollen in Dawson's Creek (1999), Gilmore Girls (2002/03) und Joey (2005). In der elften Staffel (2004–2005) der erfolgreichen und langläufigen Krankenhausserie Emergency Room spielte sie als wiederkehrende Nebendarstellerin eine Sozialarbeiterin.

Mädchen Amick lernte 1990 den Musiker und Songschreiber David Alexis kennen, den sie 2 Jahre später heiratete. Das Paar lebt heute mit seinen zwei Kindern in Los Angeles.
