Sharleen Spiteri

Sharleen Spiteri (* 7. November 1967 in Glasgow, Schottland, Vereinigtes Königreich) ist eine in Glasgow aufgewachsene britische Musikerin und Sängerin der Band Texas.

Spiteri gründete mit Johnny McElhone 1986 die Band Texas. Zuvor arbeitete sie als Friseurin.

Spiteri ist auf dem Album Rosenrot (2005) von Rammstein im Duett Stirb nicht vor mir (Don't die before I do) zu hören.

Sie komponierte einige Lieder, die in bekannten Filmen zu hören sind:

* 1997: Der gebuchte Mann (Picture Perfect), mit dem Lied Say What You Want
* 1998: Auf immer und ewig (Ever After: A Cinderella Story), mit Put Your Arms Around Me
* 1999: Notting Hill, mit In Our Lifetime.

Trotz ihrer eigenen heterosexuellen Orientierung hat Spiteri zahlreiche lesbische Fans, was u.a. auf ihr in einigen Videos bewusst dem 'Girlie'-Bild entgegen gesetztes härteres Image zurückzuführen ist.

Für Mitte 2008 ist Spiteris Debüt-Soloalbum "Melody" angekündigt.
