Marietta Slomka

Marietta Slomka (* 20. April 1969 in Köln) ist eine deutsche Journalistin und Fernsehmoderatorin.

Nach ihrem Abitur, das sie 1988 am Gymnasium Kreuzgasse erhielt, studierte Slomka Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Köln und der University of Kent in Canterbury (England).

Von 1991 bis 1996 war sie als freie Mitarbeiterin für den „Medienspiegel“ am Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft in Köln und von 1994 bis 1996 bei der „Kölnischen Rundschau“ (Lokal- und Wirtschaftsredaktion der Tageszeitung) tätig.

Nach ihrem Examen als Diplom-Volkswirtin volontierte sie bei der Deutschen Welle in Bonn, Köln und Brüssel. Für die Deutsche Welle war sie bis 1998 auch als Europa-Korrespondentin beschäftigt.

Für das ZDF arbeitete sie von 1998 an zunächst als Parlamentskorrespondentin in Bonn, nach dem Umzug der Bundesregierung in Berlin. Ihr Schwerpunkt im ZDF-Hauptstadtstudio war dabei die Wirtschaftspolitik.

Im April 2000 übernahm sie die Moderation des Nachrichtenmagazins „heute nacht“ beim ZDF. Im selben Sender moderiert sie seit dem 29. Januar 2001 das „heute-journal“ als Nachfolge von Alexander Niemetz. Zudem präsentierte sie kurz – als Nachfolgerin von Thomas Kausch – den jährlichen ZDF-Jahresrückblick „Album – Bilder eines Jahres“, bis dies wiederum von Normen Odenthal übernommen wurde.

2003 wurde sie neben Claus Kleber und Peter Kloeppel (RTL) für den Deutschen Fernsehpreis in der Kategorie „Beste Moderation Information“ nominiert.

In Köln wohnend, pendelt Marietta Slomka regelmäßig nach Mainz. Am 28. August 2004 heiratete sie ihren RTL-Kollegen Christof Lang im oberbayerischen Schliersee.

Ihr Name stammt aus dem Polnischen (S?omka) und bedeutet auf Deutsch „kleiner Strohhalm“. Slomkas Vater stammt aus Ostpreußen, ihre Mutter aus Köln.
