Jelena Dokić (* 12. April 1983 in Osijek, Jugoslawien (heute Kroatien)) ist eine professionelle australische Tennisspielerin und seit 1998 im Rahmen der WTA Tour aktiv.

Karriere
Die Familie Dokić emigrierte 1994 nach Australien. Die in Kroatien geborene Australierin spielte daher von 1994 bis 2002 für Australien. Nach einem Skandal während der Australian Open 2001, bei dem Dokić und ihr Vater den Veranstaltern Manipulationen bei der Auslosung vorwarfen, kehrte die Familie nach Serbien zurück und Dokić begann für ihre alte Heimat zu spielen. Der Skandal bei den Australian Open sollte nicht der letzte Streit bleiben an dem sich der Vater von Jelena, Damir, beteiligte. Viele Auseinandersetzungen mit Turnier-Veranstaltern, Trainern und WTA-Funktionären, aber auch private Probleme zeigten ihre Auswirkung auf die Tenniserfolge.

Sie trennte sich im November 2005 von ihrem Vater und kam zurück nach Australien. Dort entschuldigte sie sich für den alten Streit und beteuerte, dass sie jetzt wieder unter der australischen Flagge spielen wolle. Sie spielte schon 2005 ein kleines Qualifikationsturnier im Melbourne Park um eine Wildcard für die Australian Open zu erhalten, welches ihr auch gelang. Beim ersten Turnier im Januar 2006 in Auckland verlor sie ihr Auftaktspiel gegen Julia Schruff und das geplante Turnier in Canberra musste sie wegen einer Verletzung absagen.

Im Jahr 2006 sagte sie eine Reihe von Turnieren ab, nach ihrem Aus bei den Australian Open gegen Virginie Razzano in der ersten Runde spielte sie lediglich drei Turniere. Im April verlor sie in der Qualifikation des Challenger von Biarritz mit 5:7, 5:7 gegen die völlig unbekannte Italienerin Eleonora Punzo. Bei einem weiteren Challenger in Italien erreichte sie als Qualifikantin die zweite Runde, dort unterlag sie der Rumänin Madalina Gojnea. In Wimbledon startete sie mit einer Wild Card in der Qualifikation, dort schied sie jedoch in der ersten Runde gegen die ebenfalls in der Weltrangliste weit abgerutschte Alexandra Stevenson knapp in drei Sätzen aus.

Die höchste Platzierung in der Tennis-Weltrangliste der Women's Tennis Association war Rang 4 am 19. August 2002. Im Mai 2001 wurde sie zur Spielerin des Monats der WTA-Tour ernannt.
